  6. Okay, now we are seated at »CL1:The
  7. Copenhagen Party 1997», held by »CL3:"Dansk
  8. Gruppe af Computerfreaks"» ("Danish
  9. Group of Computerfreaks").
  10. And let me tell you this, our 
  11. expectations for this party were not 
  12. too high, and even then, we were
  13. »CL1:disappointed.»

  15. If we have to mention the plus side
  16. first (and we have to, not to sound
  17. too negative), the party surroundings
  18. are rather good, featuring both
  19. showers and a separate building close
  20. by, ensuring quiet sleeping.
  21. But mind you, on monday night the
  22. weather was really bad, and although
  23. the windows were closed, the rain
  24. still managed »CL1:to get inside», and some
  25. raindrops also got through the roof,
  26. perhaps the building is up for a
  27. serious makeup, or ready to be
  28. demolished.

  30. On the minus side we have that most of
  31. the organizers are complete »CL1:ignorants»
  32. when it comes to the scene, old, fat,
  33. disgusting computer nerds, who
  34. obviously do not know a single thing
  35. about how to organize a demo party.
  36. This is why this party from now on in
  37. this article will be described as a 
  38. meeting instead.
  39. Mind you, there actually are nice,
  40. friendly and clever organizers present
  41. at the party, but obviously they
  42. haven't had a single thing to say
  43. about the meeting.
  44. Well, the list of the mistakes made by
  45. the organizers is almost endless, but
  46. to name but a few would be
  47. appropriate. For instance it is »CL1:not
  48. allowed to bring your own food», since
  49. the organizers wants the attenders to
  50. buy the overpriced food which is
  51. possible to buy at the meeting. Of
  52. course booze is not allowed either,
  53. but then again, this is the case at
  54. most demoparties.
  55. Another great minus is the »CL3:lottery».
  56. Yes, the organizers seem to think that
  57. the scene consists of a lot of old 
  58. ladies wanting to buy lottery tickets,
  59. with prizes so wonderful you can't
  60. imagine it: Towels, Coca-Cola etc.!

  76. Then there is the general problems
  77. with the information contained in the
  78. invitation: In the invitation there
  79. was »CL3:no adress» of the meeting, »CL3:no
  80. guidelines» on how to get here, and as
  81. the party lasts for a whole week, it
  82. is also quite annoying for people who
  83. only has time to come during weekends
  84. that there was no »CL3:time-schedule» in the
  85. invitation. (Oups! I have just made a
  86. really cool demo which would win the
  87. compo, but the deadline has already
  88. been and gone...).
  89. And I could also mention the fact that
  90. it is not possible to buy one day
  91. tickets. After all, I don;t think
  92. everyone wants to pay dkr. 350 for
  93. being here one day. Which brings us to
  94. another problem, namely that the price
  95. of a classroom with seats for 10
  96. people is 1500 dkr., whereas a single
  97. ticket for the main hall costs dkr.
  98. 350. Why not have one price to attend
  99. the party for a week and avoid the
  100. confusion?
  101. At the meeting, members of most of the
  102. Danish groups are present: Depth,
  103. IRIS, Puzzle, Efreet, Loonies, Rebels,
  104. Scoopex, Fnuque, Ambrosia, Death Row +
  105. some independents like Melomaniac,
  106. Kollaps/ex. Focus Design & Tactica are
  107. here, or have been here. And although
  108. everyone agrees that the organization
  109. is rubbish, we still have fun with
  110. eachother, for instance Cytron,
  111. Gizmoduck, Quedax, Nightsight & Curt 
  112. Cool/Depth went grilling at Bakermans
  113. place yesterday, together with NME &
  114. Hille/Insanity.

  116. But one thing is for sure, the
  117. promised »CL1:"one week of computer fun"» is
  118. provided by the »CL8:attenders» themselves
  119. and »CL9:NOT» by the organizers!
